Pour mes derniers instants en Russie, j'ai eu droit à deux journées inoubliables. Premièrement hier, avec la taïga laissant lentement place à la toundra, puis en fin de journée retour de la végétation dans la vallée de Pechenga.
For my last moments in Russia, I enjoyed two unforgettable days. First yesterday, with the taiga gradually changing to tundra, and then back in the forest with the valley of Pechenga.
Aujourd'hui, visite des villes les plus pittoresques de la région. Quand j'ai lu leur description dans le guide lonely planet comme étant "un décor apocalyptique" et "des villes cauchemardesques" en raison de leur industrie de nickel, je savais que j'allais vers quelque chose d'intéressant. Pour commencer, Zapolyarny, lieu du forage le plus profond sur terre, le Kola Superdeep Borehole, à 12'262 mètres de profondeur.
Today, visit of the most scenic towns of the area. When I read in the lonely planet that they were described as 'depressing movie-set apocalypse' and 'evil-looking nightmare towns' because of their nickel industry, I knew I was going to something interesting, First of all, Zapolyarny, home of the deepest artificial point on earth, the Kola Superdeep Borehole, with a depth of 12'262 meters.
Et pour finir en beauté, la dernière ville avant la Norvège: Nikel (avec un nom si prometteur, vous ne vous attendez sans doute pas à une station balnéaire, n'est-ce-pas ?). Dans la direction du vent, plus rien de pousse...
And, to end on a high note, the last town before Norway: Nikel (with such a promising name, you're not expecting a sea resort, right?). Downwind, nothing growths anymore...
